JK Rowling faces $1 billion dollar lawsuit in plagiarism case

If Rowling thinks that people are stuck on stupid and believe her claims that “I didn’t do anything wrong–I’ve never stolen anyone’s ideas or works for my superstar series, Harry Potter in my life!”–?

Then I have some choice swamp land to sell you.

Has anyone forgot to tell her how easy it is to just look things up on the Internet? Even back in 1997-2000, we still had a vast library on the ‘net and it’s pretty easy to copy and past anything and then claim it as your own!!!

J.K Rowling is being sued over claims that she stole ideas from a British children’s book.

The Harry Potter films, based on Rowling’s best selling successful books, have become the most successful film franchise of all time. However, Rowling has been accused of basing some of her fourth book, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, on 1987’s The Adventures of Willy the Wizard: No 1 Livid Land by the late Adrian Jacob.

Jacobs estate have filed the lawsuit against the Potter books’ publisher’s Bloomsbury, claiming that Jacobs’ concepts of wizard prisons, hospitals and wizard college years are similar to elements in Goblet Of Fire.

The lawsuit also claims that Rowling and Jacobs both shared the same agent, Christopher Little.

The lawsuit against Bloomsbury was filed last June, but Rowling was only added to the suit recently after Jacobs’ estate learnt that the statue of limitation to sue Rowling had not run out as they had previously thought.

Rowling is said to have been “saddened” by the claim and insists that she had not “heard of the author or the book before the first accusation”.

The lawyer representing the Jacobs’ estate, Max Markson, told The Times, “I estimate it’s a billion-dollar case. When you think of all the money that’s involved, I would say $1 billion is a conservative estimate.

“If your child read Willy the Wizard he would say to you, ‘That’s just like Goblet of Fire’.”
