Tropical Storm Beatriz Forms Off The Pacific Mexican Coastline

Tropical Storm Beatriz forms in the Pacific

MIAMI – Forecasters say Tropical Storm Beatriz has formed off the coast of Mexico in the Pacific Ocean and could become a hurricane by Tuesday.

The National Hurricane Center said Sunday that the storm was about 205 miles (330 kilometers) southwest of Punta Maldonado. It had maximum sustained winds of 40 mph (64 kph) and was moving west-northwest at 10 mph (16 kph).

A tropical storm warning remains in effect from Tecpan de Galeana westward to Punta San Telmo. The hurricane watch remains in effect from Zihuatanejo to Manzanillo.
